6000 E46's recalled - December 2001 and March 2003

The best bet if you have an E46 would be to take your VIN to a dealer and ask whether your car is one of the cars recalled. Although I doubt most dealers will even know about the recall.

I'll contact BMW as well and give some feedback here. Would be nice to get hold of the list of vin numbers and we can search ourselves to see if we're safe or not.

My Wife phoned BMW this morning to enquire, and apparently they are only doing batches of cars affected at a time and could not say whether her car was affected or not, and to phone back in a month or so. I will give them a call next week and hopefully by then they will have a more sensible answer.
