OK like an hasty Fool I was trying to drive the 540i onto the new ramps I bought in the garage. And I basically went past the ramps crushing one side which is passenger side side skirt or rocker panel. Now this is part of the body on e39 therefore will it be fixable or is it wise to cut off another piece from other e39 chassis and remove mine only to replace it? Basically right before te front wheel it's crushed because there was an rust spot already sigh argh! !!!

I had similar damage to what you are describing in the Elantra. There was a stone-filled verge that I reversed onto - rear wheels didn't catch it but the rocker panel did (difficult to imagine) cost R7K to fix incl. spraying at MF Autobody. They had to cut and weld since it was crushed even though it was just the edge.

I am too used to abbreviations LOL. Just meant including the spraying. Most speed shops won't do the work.

Sorry for the delayed response

That's repairable, provided that the rust is surface... have this sorted out ASAP or you will have no choice but to cut and join.

Thank you and to flatten the surface only by electronic sander? Or can I do it by hand? Reason being want to save funds but also my complex doesn't let me do any car work though I rent and pay for the garage.

You can do it with both, hand or power sander.

as long as you get it covered in a primer, it will save the metal from deteriorating,
