Hi Guys,
I am looking for a good deal on 540 e39 - 225/55/16 tyres in Cape Town.
The only ones I can get at the moment are Dunlop SP6060 for R1000 a piece.
Can you recommend any other tyre at a better price? Money is a issue at this stage.

Thanks

Try Goodhope tyres and ask them for Roadstones. My brother had them on his Honda Accord and got about 60k plus kms out of them. (He drives according to his age (58), in other words, like an old man). Tyres have a VERY nice tread pattern. Saw them again today on a Lexus 250 and thought i must remember to get a price for them when i have to replace my tyres. Price will also be about R1000, but i would rather put them on than Dunlop 6060 (I have Dunlop 6060 on my 530d at the moment)

I currently have Dunlop D7000 on my car and they are noisy. Honestly I would rather buy secondhand Contis before I put Dunlops on.

Phone goodhope and ask about those Roadstones.

I was very dubious when I bought a "temporary" set because they cost so little, but they have turned out to be frikkin awesome tires, they are quiet, they grip very well, and yes they have a very pretty tread pattern.

They are made in Korea in a factory set up by Michelin for them.

Korean tyres are very much on the up, so usually very good tyres for the money!! Tyretraders used to sell Kumho tyres which are very good too and usually well priced. What about Hankooks at TWT? They often have specials on these tyres.

Dunlop tyres are noisy, I changed to Hankook tyres and the drive is much quieter and soft. Hankook is a little more but its worth the buy!

Prices from an old price list:

Tracmax F106 = R565ea
Prosports = R775ea
Dunlop SP Sport 6060 = R860ea
Kenda KR10 = R980ea
Accelera Alpha = R980ea

I would go for:
Toyo Proxes C1S = R1350ea

But I don't know where you would be able to get it in CT.

I have not heard good things about the dunlop 6060 or 7000's, from what I heard, they surrender completely in the wet.

Also have a look on tyretraders.co.za, they come to you.

In defence of Dunlop 6060's. I have them on my E39 530d and do not really have a problem apart from vibrations which was sorted out by the Dunlop distributors in the Cape by replacing two of the original tyres with new ones free of charge (had done about 3-5000km on the originals) and have not experienced any negative handling in the wet. Must say that i drive at normal speeds at all times and stick to the speed limit like glue in a blanket.

How many tyres do you want/have to replace?

We replaced two, but two more is due very soon. We just could not wait to shop around for the best buy. Will shop around for the rear tires and compare.

Thanks, I will give Goodwood a call for those Roadstones on the rear!
