Hello Guys

First post, and I'm sorry if I'm asking a question that been around, but I"m looking at a 2003-2005 530D Auto, are there any potential pitfalls besides the obvious and is there any reason to stay away.
This would be my forth BM so happy with the product generaly and can also do basic DIY maint when required.

Thanks:=):

Big Yes. Autoboxes may need a service. Have that checked out and further you are good to go.

If you can find one with a good autobox I can't see why you won't love the car to bits. There are some guys who can give good input that own 530d's. It's a pretty good motor if you ask me. Engine not too bad to work on either.

It's a fantastic bang for buck car :thumbs:

it would in most instances struggle to go into reverse,not just bmw boxes most autoboxes iv found do the same thing unless its dct or dsg(these are different type of auto box )

sometimes u can hear the whine from the clucth in the torque converter if u drive the car or the revs climb very quickly but ur goin nowhere or the speed is is climbing at 1kph per 2secs(rough explanation or idea i guess) with the rev needle at 3 to 4k rpm thats usually one hell of a big no no,

but the software on these trans are so good at hiding the problem aswell:argh:

Hey Thanks Guys, did the test drive today very nice, and full spec too!

BUT...then is spotted a 320D with 74K and year extension on Motorplan so now I'm completly torn, especially since I'm only looking for a daily commuter for me...:flyfun:

I love my 320D, not all the space and power of the 530D, but its no boring slow drive either. Ultimately its up to you. I love my car.

Mmmm! Choices choices. Go with the heart (530D) or Go with the brain (320D) with motor plan.
The mp is worth alot bro.

Good luck with the choice.
