Ok well then box is fine,no jerkiness at all,how are the clutches and torque converter in these cars, just ran into a friend with a 530 auto on 250k km and he tows the same weight as me,more often, and his box is great,so I guess its how the car is treated

It is how the car is treated, does he have a 530i? The gearbox of the 530i and 530d is very, very different. The d has a french-made GM box, and the i a ZF, presumably from germany.

As long as the valve body is good, the clutches and torque converter will last 500kkm IMO. The same box was fitted to the much heavier X5, which also had to do the occasional off-road. So it should be fine, but it could also break at any time, but that would not be due to towing.

Ok cool,I feel better, then I shall go ahead and purchase this shjerman veehikle
I have a 2001 E39 530d Auto. Current odometer reading is about 350k. I have towed many a load of 1.5T+ and at relatively high speeds. Replaced Turbo once and Injectors once, else a trouble free vehicle. I service at every 8 - 10k.

What kind of warranties did you guys get with your cars or did you not get one,coz I'm thinking maybe I shuld get a one year warranty that covers mostly expensive mechanical engine parts

You won't find one that gives adequate cover for a car that age. My warranty is cash in the bank...

Warranty solutions,7k for one year unlimited milage,I don't have cash in the bank,I'm a part time worker, that spends his money on his race car,so its a bit hard to leave my working car for a car that isnot mine but needs to be

That is fine, but how much do they cover for injectors?
Turbo?
gearbox?

if you can do the work yourself, injectors are ~2500 each
turbo is R9200 for a brand new one.
gearbox is ~22k to have rebuilt with a 2 year warranty.
all prices incl vat.
If they cover that, then go for it!

(Oh, and remember to remove the swirl flaps (google is your friend))

im waiting for my car to come back from roadworthy,i had the option of either i pay for tyres and get a service free or the other way around,i choose that they pay for tyres as it was 7500 for all four,
so where can i get the service done, oil, filters and reset service meter?

P1000

Tyres will be more expensive than a service, if you ask me... But if it is free, take it to the stealers, and tell them to replace everything, especially the crankcase breather!!!

oops, I misread it. Service is DIY for me, I trust myself more than a mech that gets paid by the hour. Google the service indicator reset procedure, you can do it without tools or wires, while sitting in the car. Try to get Michelin Primacy tyres, they are amazing, but more than R7500 for a a set though.

So iv had the bmw since friday, and so far its great, need headlight refurb, new pdc sensor, new cables in both chairs that controls the backrest, and cupholders haha, and a sub,
Did the service on sat with leonard,he struggled to get into the ecu for somereason, some technical issue, found out that it needs a bushing on the top of the arm,and a serious wash,

Control arm bushings is usually a given when you buy an e39. Headlight refurb is easy will take less than 4 hours if you take your time as long as you have an electric polisher of some kind... Just make sure you have 2000 grit sandpaper at least for the last step, 3000 is preferable, especially if you want to polish by hand. Oh, and menzerna SIP works the best as a polish, otherwise brasso or P12 cutting compound followed by cheap shield polish.

It is odd, the bus is fine as I can communicate with all devices except on the CAN bus,

This is both DIS as well as INPA, but the cluster is complaining about a CAN interruption (cant remember the exact error) so there is something screwy on the bus. However, it works, the car actually sounds good and is still in very very good shape.

I have had this error once before, and unplugging of the ABS pump solved it, its something interrupting the comms, and I cant get into the DDE or the EGS...

so i took the intake off to inspect the swirl flaps, and their in good condition but they need to be taken out, dont need unnecessary shit, also thers sludge in the intake pipe, not sure if this car recirculates air taht isnt burnt or wat wat, will look at turbo and see if the seals are gone,
p1000 was it a mission to remove turbo, did u have to jack car up?

P1000

I have not removed the turbo, yet. But yes, you need to get the car up quite high in the air in order to get the downpipe off...
