Hi guys, I am new on this site but I need some info if you can help. I have a 530 E34 manual and I bought a 540 E34 motor gearbox Auto and diff. I want to use my 530 5 speed manual gearbox and 540 diff on this conversion. I am also changing the computer box. Can this conversion work or am I busy wasting money.

... not sure whats neccesary to swop the ECU tho..
do you have the wiring harness for the 540 ECU ?
for some reason I think the ECU could be a plug and play situation as far as the wiring harness is concerned tho...
you could be in luck..
but the auto to manual swop is quite easy ...

Yea you can, it is not too difficualt, however you do have a small problem.
The 540 diff is not going to fit onto the manual drive shaft, the input flanges are differant, other then that it should work just easy.
You would either need to use your 530 diff, or engineer the drive shaft, what are the ratio's on both diffs, i got sneaky suspision that they are both 2.83, and both are open
