530 d-ilemma

Hi guys
looking for some good advice regarding the above
Currently have a 07 Golf 5 GTi with 185000km, considering swapping for a 04 530d with 133000km, the 5 ser is immaculate.
The guy wants 100k cash which I think is abit over priced an I'm pretty sure the GTi could sell for around 120k.
I feel like I shouldn't swap but at the same time, dying to get into another bm.

I don't want to do something stupid and regret it later.

Anyone that owns a 530d, what's maintenance like ?

Should have the same engine as my E39. Service costs are relatively cheap if you DIY. Like 1.5k for the parts and oil max.

AFAIK should have the 150kw motor like the facelift E46... Stainless manifold is known to crack otherwise the otherwise the normal diesel issues...

100k isnt so bad if its immaculate. I paid a little more than that for my E39...

it is a different class of vehicle, when you buy a 5 series, you don't drive it the same style like a Golf GTI anymore, if you do, you might be tempting mechanical failure "fate"
5 is a luxury businessmans cruiser

Best car ever made,

The 530d is the essence of perfect.

Long as its been looked after its a no brainier, and with those "low" km the price is not that crazy, you could pick one up for 70 to 90k, at double the km.

Watch gearbox, and suspension, but no more of a risk then any heavy car with such high torque figures...

IMHO of course...

Definitely awesome cars, I wouldnt do a straight swop though, the other guy should pay in.

In terms of service, treat the car right and it will treat you right. Service on time, make note of common issues and confirm if the has had them resolved.

I love my E60..... ignore what the haters say about the E60 though.
