Hi Guys

What would somebody pay for a 528i 1985 e28?

Low mileage - in fairly good body condition and excellent engine condition.

Those are excellent cars if in good condition. Including the 535i, my personal favourite. Its old school, but depends what you would want to pay for it.

bit of a petrol eater , was eclipsed by 535i . Anything over R25 K then you are buying it to put money in and sell at a loss later . Spares availability may increase maintenance costs . good luck .
Car magazine road test July 1985 top speed 218 o-100 in 8.9 seconds 10.00 L/100 km at 120 but 16.53 L/100 km during testing ( bmw claim 14.9 ) 135 kw at 5800 , 240 nm at 4200 .

The sky is the limit on this one

5,000 to 75,000

Depends on the condition of the car, is it roadworthy, if you find the right buyer for a low km model, he would virtually pay anything. These things are becoming REALLY scarce...

Why, what did you find...

Hi zaleonardz - thanks for your reply.

I've got one that I want to sell. It's running perfectly, body needs a bit of attention (mainly the top) but overall its in excellent condition - will try to upload pic. I've had a few very bad mechanics that did more damage to the car's engine because they didn't know what they where doing and in the end I ended up paying for there wrong doing.:thumbdo:
I want to sell for R30 - R35 - because it has low mileage and its in a good condition.

Please let me know if you have anyone looking for this model.

Thanks much appreciated. :ty:

Yea,

I would recon then you can start looking from 25 to about 35, it seems reasonable.

Regardless of condition, is she complete though thats the real trick...

If it has momo steering wheels and bucket seats out of a fiat, your going to have an issue, but if she runs, is complete, your asking price is fair and Im sure you will get it...

Define low km ?

Hi Zaleonardz

I've renewed all the pipes, changed the radiator coil, new brake pads, had it serviced and unfortunately some of the mechanics don't know what they doing, so they damage the car more than anything else.

Other than a few scratches and a couple of small dents, she's in excellent condition. The interior was always covered with seat cloths, so the seats still looks brand new. Only the dashboard needs abit of attention - got cracks and the cubby needs attention as well.

Low Mileage - as of yesterday it just clocked 265000km - I had other cars and was not using this car that often hence the low mileage. Based on the number of years and an average of 25000km per year, its far below its average.

Kind Regards

Those are really really epic, and if I had the money, I would snap this right up.

I really don't want to sound negative, or offend, and what I am about to say is purely my opinion. The e28 was a fantastic car in it's day, and is becoming an increasingly rare sight on our roads. However, there is very little demand for these cars today, and only a very neat car (no dents, cracked dash, etc...) with a very low mileage (read 150k and under) will achieve a reasonable price. From what you describe, I reckon 15k to 25k tops is possible. Only an M5 will go for serious money and, to a lesser extent, a super tidy M535i, if you can find one. It's sad but, I fear, true. The same applies to other old BMW's such as the e12 and e23. Hope I am wrong, wish you luck with the sale, and would love to see some photos.

I doubt you will get anything more than 30k for it. The common thing these days with those cars is to strip them for parts and sell the parts. You will not get much more out of it but you'll get rid of the car and get your money.

 It really saddens me that it has to be this way. I am fortunate enough to own a 1988 model 528i (Dolphin metallic)

She is hibernating at the moment because I can't find an air flow meter. BMW is asking for a little too much, I must save for at least 6 more months to be able to buy it from BMW
