523i LCI Gearbox

Hi,
I have a 2008 523i LCI and the auto gearbox is on its last legs. Can anyone recommend a garage/repair shop that can rebuild my gearbox or swap with a refurbished/second hand gearbox in the Rustenburg/Gauteng area?

ZF in Germiston. It's not going to be cheap but they're going to do the best job

Thanks. Just called them... It isn't cheap 28k-35k. Will have to dig deep to go there

What is wrong with the gearbox? What is the mileage?

Mechatronics. Jerks from fourth to fifth gear. And occasionally writes transmission fault which keeps it in one gear. Car at approx 155k. Gearbox oil was changed at bmw about 6 months ago without any success. Dealership recommends new gearbox.

Try and get the car to ZF (i think they are in Edenvale) for final analysis. Also, they are the best people to work on the gearbox as they have all the necessary equipment. Recently i had my E60 gearbox serviced and they said overhaul is about R42k. Ask for Nick at ZF he is a good guy

Thanks. Talked to them already and they estimated between 28-35k

Get got the car back from zf. Must say, they did a great job even though the job cost just south of R50k
