Ok it is a decent looking car.............but the point is, they have called this a 4 series to differentiate it from the 3ser F30, in a similar fashion to how Audi have positioned the A5 separately to the A4. Then there was all the talk :blab: about how this car was going to have its own identity
to seperate it from the 3series.
Even with the A4 vs A5 you can see these cars have differences, but with the F30 vs F32, it just looks like a wider F30 with a different tail light at the rear. Look, the A4 vs A5 do have very similar front ends, but there are subtle variations in the front to create some sort of difference.
With the F32, the kidney grilles are just wider and the rest is straight out F30.
Another issue that is being overlooked, is the dimensions, this new 4, is almost as big as the previous generation 6Ser E63, actually has a longer wheelbase than the E63. Thanks to Hugo_ZA for the info below:-
4 Series:
Wheelbase - 2,810 mm (110.6 in)
Length - 4,641 mm (182.7 in)
Width - 1,826 mm (71.9 in)
Height - 1,362 mm (53.6 in)
E63/E64 6 Series:
Wheelbase - 2,778 mm (109.4 in)
Length - 4,831 mm (190.2 in)
Width - 1,855 mm (73.0 in)
Height - 1,373 mm (54.1 in)
Imho, at the size of the E92, I feel it is at borderline limit, between sporty coupe and cruiser. The E46 coupe gave you a very awesome feel when you attacked a set of tight corners, even though the E92 is good and grips well in fast sweeps at higher speeds, I just feel that the larger dimensions hinder the vehicle's agility in tighter corners.
So anything larger than an E92 is just going to make it less chuckable in the corners and make it feel like a whale. To me, the 4ser, is way too big, and more of a GT cruiser than something to attack a set of corners.
