400m or 1km

If we talking "Drag" Racing then I think the quarter mile is the most appropriate as it takes some( a little) driver skill into it as well on the launch whereas that slight skill advantage can be lost somewhat at the 1km.

As Vin Diesel said " I live my life a quarter mile at a time. Nothing else matters: not the mortgage, not the store, not my team and all their bullshit. For those ten seconds or less, I'm free. "

See the target : 10 seconds or less :dropjaw:

I know I'm stating the obvious here, but the answer to your question would obviously depend on the agreed parameters of the "drag race". If the participants agree that in order to stack the two vehicles up against one another, the vehicles will be raced over 400m, it must follow (assuming parity of driver skill) that the car that gets to the 400m mark first wins and is faster over that distance.
Conceivably therefore the one car may be quicker over 400m while the other may be quicker over 1000m. It's as simple as that, is it not?

:nono:i don't agree on that this is way: take a OPC OPel watch the 3rd Gear "normal stock car" vs a 130i stock Bmw it will be behind the bmw at 200m and then be in front for the next 400m but loses to the bmw at the 1km sprint so this is way i say then 1KM drag is the beta.........

The problem I have with a 1km drag is that I will reach my limiter in top gear probably around the 800m mark and I will tap since I wouldn't see the point in limiting all the way to the end.

if the goal is to say "My car is Faster then yours" then if you want to prove it you would have to do 1000, 400 and take it around a track it would give the the best idea about all round performance

the problem is a car set up for 400m could be very fast over 400m but the gear ratio could limit top end for 1000m, a car build for 1000m could have a too long ratio for 400m a car built for the track will be set up to keep maximum corner speed but will not always be that fast in a drag race.

"My car is Faster then yours" is a general statement so then you have to prove it is faster in more than one circumstance... otherwise all you proving is your car is faster over 400m ect...

Currently driving a turbo superboss, final drive is 3.72:1

So at 7000rpm on 205/40/15s it is approximately 270km/h true speed, with 195/50/15 its around 250km/h.

Not entirely sure what you saying here bud, but a stock OPC is quicker than a stock 130i through all gears at the reef, coastal air might give you a different result.

Nice car! You will be able to race over 1km.. Our heavily modded 265kw TS ran a 239km/h over the 1km at ODI.. Our 300kw golf MK1 2door with 6speed diesel box did a 244km/h on same track!
Even hannes minaars 11s fiat X19 ran a 261km/h..
Reaching 250 on a 1km will take a serious powered car! Go on www.ODIRACEWAY.co.za and check their forum. All events results are posted there. You might get a rough clue what your car will do over the 1km. If you ever in the witbank area we can put your car on the VBOX and get a for sure time and speed over all distances.

So how much power do you reckon my 335 is making to push to a 251?

George bud, rear wheel drive total different ball game! You around the 300kw mark and a shit load of torque! And its not just about peak power your power range is almost your whole rev range! As where other single aftermarket turbo cars have to build up an then have 1000-2000rpm's of usable power!

A OPC Gets a beating at the coast 1st and 2sec gear 3rd it coz past and then at 5th gear the 130i comes back at topspeed but at highveld the opc is in fron all the way but th Bmw 195kw drops, down to 165kw witch is not fear!!
