335i n55 vs n54

Hi guys. I havent been on the forum for a while. You may remember me posting about my options in getting a 330d vs 335I etc etc.

Anyways, I have good news. I will be joining the BMW clan officially very shortly. Seems I have sourced a beautiful n54 335i coupe :rollsmile:

Anyways I wanted to know how the N54 stacks up against the N55.

Pros and Cons would be good.Excuse my ignorance but the N55 HAS THE SINGLE TURBO setup vs the TwINS of the N54?

What else are the major differences?

n54 has a better tuning base as its been around alot longer,N54 due to twin turbos is slightly less fuel efficient,Also n55 has a better midrange while the n54's are stronger on top.

Either way,youre buying a solid car that will give you enjoyment evrytime you drive it.Try for DCT though,its amazing.

Both engine platforms are brilliant. DCT is fantastic but the auto is great too.

Just make sure you get some MP for at least the first two years of ownership. :inlove::joy:

Agree make sure you got some mp left. They can be abit temperamental but these turbo motors are a whole lota fun!

Guys Ive got motorplan to July 2014.Car has 60k on the clock. Will extend it there after for a year and then probably move on to another car.

I went to see the car today. Fark me its epic. Bang for buck got be a one of the best performance packages on the market.

Havent been this excited about getting a car for a while now.Yoof its sexy!:thumbs:

Congrats Luke, you like me came from a S2k (AndrewS2k from HRC) and I have not looked back since getting my N54 135. Incredible engine stock, and only gets better with JB4...:thumbs:

Yeah bud, JB4 is very popular piggyback system and lots of guys are making good power with this mod (overseas and here). Rennzport are dealers for JB here, get hold of Twinz for more info. Its cheap too, think around R3k for the thing and you can practically install it yourself (from what I hear).

BMW are extremely strict so you will very likely lose your mp if they find out. Some guys say its untraceable as you can simply load the stock map and remove the JB4 but I've read that BMW seem to come up with new methods of checking this (number of times the management has been accessed to load maps, checking over revs, boost pressures, etc) so it is a risk.

That's making me pretty nervous? I've had my 135i for less than a year now and MP expires soon....

I will definitely extend it, but was hoping to drive it forever.

Parts on these platforms have come down drastically. Cant see why you cant keep the car forever...

I am itching to do it but i just love the car as it is..

I beat a lexus ISF the other day, caught and passed! So for me thats badass enough for a stock car...

I think they seriously underrated from a performance perspective. Im sure if you did basic mods..soft/exh/dp etc your only competition will be exotics.Thats very impressive.
