335i N54 Cylinder head to Thermostat hose replacement parts

Hey Guys

I was changing my oil filter housing gasket and oil cooler gasket, I mistakenly loosened one of the wrong bolt, the coolant pipe to the left that goes into the cylinder head and as I removed the pipe the plastic fitting fell apart into 100s of pieces after a long day of searching for a replacement part and BMW telling me they have to import the part for R1600 from Germany which will take three weeks, I did alot of research and found an aluminium replacement part for the plastic part that broke, I will be getting this part machined this week at a very skilled engineer, my question to you is the plastic fitting did have a o-ring new part will also have an o-ring, the plastic part did not have a gasket, but with the aluminium part bolting against the cylinder head will I need a gasket? if indeed I need one how would I obtain one? or do I just use gasket maker?

Below is a few pics of the original part and the one I am getting made

This is the original Part

Good job with making the part. Would love to see the final product and what your sales price gonna be.

You dont need a gasket as long as the Oring is the correct size and is fitted with lubrication it should seal properly.

The plastic connection becomes brittle after awhile due to the heat generated by the head and will eventually break.

The N54 have aluminium coolant pipes bolted to the head without gaskets as long as the correct Orings are fitted. There are two oil drains that have rings and gaskets.

Fit without the gasket but use a little gasket maker. I cant see it causing issues.

Thanks will keep specs if any other fanatic needs the part will of course test it for a few months, thanks for the tips, after 100 000km of heat on that plastic I can't see it not breaking when removed

Update, sorry it's so late I have been extremely busy at work, sorry for all of the dirt the Oil housing gasket that leaked made a huge mess, it's been cleaned since then.

The original OEM plastic part will set you back around R1800 from BMW with a wait time of 2-3 Weeks, and you have to remove the other side of the hose at the thermostat to replace the original hose, doing that is around 4 hours of labour, this replacement took me around an hour.

If anybody needs this part in the future I can have it made at around R1300 which includes the material, engineering, o-ring and a gasket

I dont remember if AWB had this or not, but could one make it such that not only can you see who posted last in a forum, but also what topic that post was in?

What was posted in is more important than who posted it IMO...
