330d with 200 000kms?

I'm warning you now dont get an auto. We've had 4 boxes refurbs the 3rd one is currently on the car and the 4th is waiting for the 3rd to die. But I'm converting it to a manual. Or buy the auto and when your box breaks come chat to me for a spare :tease: . I will have 2 soon. Lol

In my experience they last around 130 000kms albeit we did not change the boxes oil. But the car was never used for towing. And its supposed to be "lifetime" but yes i know its not.

And a recon on these boxes is anywhere north of R15 000 anything less than that and it might say cheers in 20 000kms.

If you REALLY want an auto get a E90 320d if your budget allows.

Also when testing maybe reset the throttle adaptions. All you do is climb in turn the key so that the electronics come on. Wait a good 10seconds. Turn the key off. And then start the car. It was night and day difference on my car. The car felt very lazy and wouldnt gear when you would think, with the amount of pressure applied to the throttle.

Really like the one barkie is selling but then I will need to sell my bakkie privately first :argh:

What do you guys think about a 2005 E46 320i Individual (Manual) immaculate condition with full service history and the guy is paying in R10 000 for my bakkie. Maybe this will be a better bet

320i's are kak slow.

They are better in manual then auto, but if your used to some power/grunt, its going to annoy you no end..

But if your looking for comfortable cruiser mommy mobile 140km/h on the highway, its a lovely car, and you should look into it.

I would go for barkie's 330d. I believe it has also been de-flapped, which makes it even more attractive. On these cars, the engine lasts as long as you maintain it, and the gearbox lasts untill you drive it off the used car dealers' floor (if it is an auto). I believe in the US people have attempted to make a class action suit against BMW for these specific gearboxes - the GM 5L40e. They had many recalls in the american made cars using the same box, but BMW refuses to acknowledge any problem, since they almost never fail in motorplan...

Take your bakkie to some used car dealers, and see what you can get for it cash. Sometimes it is worth taking a knock if you can get the right car/time is critical.

Hi Guys.

First of as I am new to this forum I would like to thank each of you for your advice. Has really help me alot. Will be taking my bakkie to a dealer today to find out what I can get for it. Seeing that book value on the bakkie is 110 I will not accept anything less than 85. From there I believe the only way to go will be for a 330d manual which I think will take some time searching for. Will definitely contact Barkie if I get my price.

No it won't! Don't do it. You will regret it everyday. A good 330d manual is worth getting everytime!

So I sold the Bakkie. Will be taking delivery on a 2007 Polo 1.9Tdi 96kw Sportline with 125 000km and full service history (immaculate Condition). And I know the owner. Not a beemer but will do for now :rollsmile:
