330D Weird Problem

It sounds like your viscous fan clutch has siezed.

Also a quick test is to start the car and let it idle for a couple of seconds. Shutdown and disconnect the vacuum line that runs to the accumulator tank (the little reservoir thing) You should hear a hiss as the vacumm is released. Then you shouldn't be too worried about vacuum leaks. However there could always be a guilty one hiding away somewhere.

You're going to have to take a weekend and strip the intake manifold and follow all vacuum lines and replace them individually. Only so much can be said over text.

I really hope you can find the problem asap.

Thnx Andy, I do hear the hiss when I disc the pipe after I let it idle, and yes that is the viscous I bought a brand new one from midas they said it will come loose after a while, been driving 5000km with it like that.... im going to put a electrical fan in its place. All the vacuum pipes is replaced with those nice blue one's you get at mr turbo, so I guess the next step is the censors and the turbo

Hi guys

So today I decided to remove my intercooler and check for leaks and this is what I found.

After cleaning

you think this is the culprit for all my problems?

What is the price on a new one?

That has been done with a full service 5000km ago. and I only own the car for the last 5000km.
So then I decided to check the intercooler today.

With my not so technical knowledge I would say the oil build up was from the oil breather being blocked. Might be worth changing the boost seal from where the oil and stuff leaked.

I have to get a new cooler first as this one is full of holes, that is where the oil prob seeped out

Hi guys
I have a weird problem with my 330D

Took it to 2 different people to check for error codes and only the glow plugs came out with errors.

Its has new injectors, all new vacuum pipes.

It is a automatic.
Tested with a new MAF and still did the same.

The problem is when I floor it its dead below 2500rpm and then starts to stutter feels like running on 5cylinders and black smoke, I lift my foot 1cm of the accel and floor it again and all the power is there.

when I put it in 1st and gradually accelerate it feels like something frees up at 2500 rpm and I can feel the power.

any ideas?

Regards

Sounds like a problem I had. There used to be a thread about it on the forum. You should check the air intake manifold. There is a flap that varies the amount of air that the engine sucks in. This get dirty and can become sticky.

Hi Guys

Just an update.

I have a aftermarket exhaust manifault which was buckled and the welding on 2 of the pipes was cracked.

The problem I had at 3000rpm was caused by the turbo boosting too much so the previous owner fiddled with the actuator. Moved the screw 2mm and problem solved.
