It would be a long drive to my mechanic  .

That was recommended by a mod on the forum who lives in klerksdorp. Go have a chat to them and see if they know what they're talking about.

I took the car to a turbo specialist and he took the car for a drive, he said it is definitely the veins, he also said that the actuator moves too slow.

So the next step is do I let him recon the turbo or do I buy a new one?

2 of the 3 guys I took it to said it is sticky veins

Noooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo! If the veins are being touched or messed with on a VNT turbo rather buy a new one or this may end badly with a lot more expense. Check out www.gdrive.co.za or Turbo direct. Replace it with a genuine Garrett as the Chinese knock off vnt turbo’s do not last either

Hi guys
I have a weird problem with my 330D

Took it to 2 different people to check for error codes and only the glow plugs came out with errors.

Its has new injectors, all new vacuum pipes.

It is a automatic.
Tested with a new MAF and still did the same.

The problem is when I floor it its dead below 2500rpm and then starts to stutter feels like running on 5cylinders and black smoke, I lift my foot 1cm of the accel and floor it again and all the power is there.

when I put it in 1st and gradually accelerate it feels like something frees up at 2500 rpm and I can feel the power.

any ideas?

Regards

Firstly do not worry about glow plugs. My E46 and E90 have glow plug erros. Non event. Our climate is glow plug friendly.

Please confirm the following.

Is the hesitation present in every gear at exactly the same RPM every time? If so then your VNT is in fact faulty.

If it is sporadic and comes and goes under different circumstances, like when the car is cold vs hot then I would have to suspect the injectors. One or more might be faulty. Unless you physically saw them installing brand new injectors the 'recon' ones might not mean much.

The reason I'm saying this is that Nick's old car is showing similar symptoms but also displays pinging under load at low RPM.

Hope this helps :)

Hi

There is no diff between hot and cold, if I floor it it stutters, if I gradually accelerate it feels little dead and then from 2500rpm it feels like something frees up, I will make some videos and upload.

As long as the diagnosis is constant and the problem is constant then you're in luck. It's hopefully just the VNT mechanism that's worn out inside the turbo.

Here is one video
What do you guys think, this is what happens everytime i floor it, and it feels like theres not alot of power from 1000 - 2500rpm

Was anyone able to have a look at my video? Noticed how it stays at 3000rpm and all of a sudden revs up?

Dude your car is definitely sick! Even after 3000rpm it’s not pulling like it should. It looks like the car is not boosting at full boost.

Let’s start a process of elimination

Remove all the sensors, clean them and put it back.

Ensure there are no boost leaks

There’s a black tank thing with a vacuum line going to your turbo. Ensure that there are no cracks and it’s not leaking

Lastly if all else fails replace the turbo. (I don’t recommend recon as they tend to last a few 100km then explode)

When I remove the vacuum pipe from that black bottle and put it back as soon as the actuator is at the bottom I hear sssshhhh, it does not come from the black bottle do you think it can be from that pressure convertor or even the actuator it is comming from? What s3nsors do you reccomend I clean?
