330D not starting

hello,
I have a 2004 330D auto, that starts sometime and then swithches off, Im not a mechanic, but the car is just dying, had to get it towed home today.
I think it has something to do with the diesel as the starter is swinging the engine just is not taking. On the odd occasion, when i leave the car to stand a while it starts and then again dies. I suspect that there might be water in the diesel or something to do with the fuel.
Can anyone help or advise how I would be able to check this ? Is there anywhere I can check for water in the diesel ?

Lack of fuel pressure could be a problem. Or a totally clogged fuel filter. They are non service items so depending on the mileage yours might need replacing. The diesel pump costs about R1000 at goldwagen. Replace the filter as well as they're located together. Under the left/passenger side, inwards of the sidesill. You'll need to remove some covers to get to it.

Why do you suspect water in the diesel?

You can Also use NF Diesel Boost - Will def help and is good for the injectors as well. :thumbs: But i would recommend that if you have water in that you drain it first.

I agree with Andy.. But will advise you to get the codes read...


Reading the codes might reveal other issues as well....

But a good chance that your problem is as Andy says.

Other option is the crank and or cam sensor that's cutting the motor out... Codes read is best option...

Hi, It was the diesel pump under the passenger seat that was faulty, it was working part time. So I went and bought a new one ( Pirate) R695-00 . Replaced it in 15 minutes and the car started 1st time and is back to its normal self.
