410 000kms, original turbo, original suspension, mostly original. Minus the gearbox, i think we've had 3 refurbs? We have two gearboxes one is waiting for the other to break.

But can you guys tell me and sorry to jack this thread would it be a huge mission to convert it to a manual?

Chat to Gizmo about a conversion. IIRC he did one, but I could be wrong. Either way, he knows those E46s inside out

Thanks will pm him.

Because if its a manuel I wouldnt mind modding the car. Maybe just dedpf and downpipe, and maybe some non-agressive software.

Just had the whole car resprayed for R9 000 wasnt worth doing such an expensive paint job on the car, but the guy did a pretty decent job. Also all the chrome is now gloss black. And the kidney grills are black. I guess i must post pictures. There was some rusting on the car.

Hi there..
Gent, I drive a 2003 FL 135kw kak box 330d.
It's a facelift but it isn't the second gen FL, meaning it came a cassette deck and the older aircon unit plus a more full engine bay :fencelook:
The car is an absolute gem to own and drive :praise:
Conservative driving I get 900km max to a tank highway only and 650 combined.
But the beauty of these torq monsters are that no matter how hard you push them you get minimum 450 per tank highway driving
A friend of mine completely demolishes me in a straight line drag with his 150kw A/T, not saying mine is slow, just saying the 150kws have much more power. IIRC he ran head on head with a 135kw M/T
The auto box is smooth and handles the power nicely but if I had the choice I would swap for a manual today.
IMO manuals return better consumption and much better power.
Hope that helped.
Buy a 330d 150kw manual.
Finish and kla.

Hi Kaka, does you viscous fan also sound much louder than the 150kw version?

I test drove a 135kw manual the other day, not a bad kar but it sounded like a truck.

Yeah :thumbdo:
Most fucking annoying.
I thanked you by mistake their.
Reason why they would replace a motor 2 years into the facelift is because it is that much better. I want to upgrade

Hahaha "thanks for saying my car sounds like a truck"

Yours does have advantages though, the exhaust manifold doesn't crack or fail and thus saves you, also the turbos tend to last longer. So for less money (maintenance wise) you can get similar power figures to the 150kw M57N.

Just change the downpipe and load software. It's the best money you could spend on the car. (and you'll beat the 150's)

Do not want to Hi-Jack, how good is the 5 speed box on the 135kw 330d. I have both and would like to map the older one as well, just not want to do it if I will get gearbox problems. Would be happy if I can get her up to at least 160kw on the fly

Haha mine sounds like a truck, I think the engine mounts should be replaced as its like sitting in a giant vibrator. It definitely turns head when you put foot. :)

Does your intake scoop (front mount above the kidney grills) move after you've driven the car? Then you're mounts are stuffed. It's not such a tough DIY.

Umm I will check later are you taling about the intake scoop that runs to the airbox? I dont think it moves but it might vibrate. But how could that make the entire car vibrate?

Yes the intake scoop, it's attached to the airbox, so if you're mounts are stuffed the whole engine will lift and pull those two plugs out of position which is the tell tale that the mount/s have sheared/gone. Normally left (passanger side on our RHD cars) mount goes first.

Oh ok, I will check I actually think it is loose. But by the looks of your engine mounts at around 160 000kms. Mine must be shot at 410 000. Did you post the DIY in your restore thread ?

I can't recall, The more work I did on the car the less pics I took. There are pics to show what they look like, only 2 nuts each to loosen it. Then you need to suspend the engine weight and jack it high enough untill they come out.

The right hand one you'll need to loosen the steering colomn to gain enough access. Also just a torx bolt to remove.

Removing the engine covers are most of the job.

So i've checked it out and the clips are broken on the front, well the clips on the intake that attach to the car. Will take a photo just now. Car is going into bruces tomorrow to have the engine mounts replaced and the intake secured.
