Hi Guys

please advise, i need some coil-overs to drop my baby a little, also need a bigger tyre at the back. I am currently on 235/45/17 all round.

Can you recommend the tyre size ?
will a 255/40/17 look back on my car ?

Your current tyre size and wheel offsets are completely wrong for 3 series. Sell them and buy the correct stuff, fitting even bigger tyres and dropping the car is going to make your problems far worse.

@ Gizmo,

My car is sitting on 225/45/17 (E90 OE rims), are these O.K. for the E46?
Yes, correct size for 1,3 and Z series models.

OP, check your driver's door jam sticker for the correct size tyres. Usually 225/45/17 in front and 245/40/17 on the rear with narrows and wides.
All narrows usually 225/45/17 all round.

But first change your wheels for the correct offset ones.

Thanks,

So I have decided to keep them 225/45/17 all round on my E46

Great looking rims on Miltonian's car, pity they are the wrong ones for it

I would not recommend wider tires it looks like they will rub...

Yes, looking at them it seems like these are as close as I can get to the outer wheel arches without causing damage or without "rolling" or widening them. I'm happy with it as is, the car looks great with them!

sorry was commenting on the OPs tires... you could probably go 235 or 245 without any issues with e90 wheels

I love these rims , eish thinking hard about getting rid of them !

I need a different look.

so if i go 245/40 at the back, will I not be "correcting" the mistake i made ?

245/40/17 will be the right size on the back but the wheel offset is still wrong and the front tyres are still too tall.
