Agree with the article but this part got my attention....

It was once featured against the E30 M3 in an international magazine, and the 325iS with its 2.7litre straight-six motor was admired over the M3s’ 2.3ltr 4-pot because of smoother power delivery from lower rev range. Although the M3 was a bit faster, capitalising on its lighter front end because of two less cylinders. It shared the same suspension bits as the M3, making handling very much similar.
