Thanks guys I appreciate your comments and advice. This is also because of what I have read on this site that I decided to buy a diesel.

I upgraded from an E32 740i (1992) TO AN e39 530D (2001)

When I test drove the E39 530d with the salesman, I had to keep it calm, as I hadn't bought it yet.

after the deal was done, and I drove away from the dealership, I gave the accelerator pedal a healthy push.....followed by WIDE EYES, I nearly shat myself by the torque and power.

and my fuel consumption went to 1/2

congrats on your tractor purchase

You will love the 330D's torque!
And wait till you hit the open road!

The sales man also said. On the open road you will love it and I have to drive to experience it fuel economy speed and power. So what mileage will I get on a tank

freeway i get 1100-1200 on a tank and town driving i get 750-850km

+1, I pretty much get the same  The only negative is tyres go too quick, that torque makes her tail happy. Its a love hate thing

I took an F30 320d with 9000km and not the E90 330d with 68 000km. But im happy with the choice and impressed, and maybe in the future a F30 330d

Congratulations I can understand your choice. For those who have not driven the F30 yet make a plan. I changed from 6speed E90 335i to the F30 330d. The old car was a "mans" car with heavy steering and clutch. The f30 controls are so light watch out for grandma going to town:thumbs:
