Might be changing the wifes Polo soon, hoping to get a 320d LCI.

How is the car as a daily?

Hey bud,

ah you wont make a mistake doing that...as a daily and even long runs the car is comfy and perfect package for both. i use it it as both, in town consumption, is around 6.5l/100km at worst and highway, i can get it down to 3.9l/100km.

Hey gents,

okay so the long wait came to an end...got my H&R springs, took the set to AutoQuip Fourways and got them fitted. on the way home, smelt a burning smell..thought it was car next to me...

took the car for a spin this evening, and getting this smell a lot more from the front wheel area. Came home, parked car in front of the light and kept engine running, smell is there and then can see light smoke as well.

Now, from how it smells and the light smoke, it looks like when the brakes are raped to death so it is a rubbing...friction rubber type of smell.

I definitely do not like it though as I dont want to send the car in to sort this out, but need to atleast try diagnose what could have went wrong.

Any ideas from the gurus please? Worst case is i will have to take it back to where it was fitted and then see what could possibly be rubbing etc or can someone take a peek at it for me tomorrow who has an eye that can spot the issue rather...

Your best bet would be to take good look around the wheel arch in good light, you should be able to spot if something is rubbing. Wheel not catching on fender lining perhaps?

eish bru, your car looks the business with those springs. If my wife gets that eye infection again frmo me spending more money on the car, you giving me a place to sleep

Have it checked out rather, not sure what could cause it.

My initial thought is fender/wheel arch & tyre rubbing, but it isn't limited to that. Park the car so as to allow for the wheel gap to increase. Then you will have more space to check if there are any marks on the tyres, fender and wheel arch. Check outside and inside.

Also, what wheel setup do you currently have?

Edit to add: Congrats on the new H&R setup. Post some pics.

If you can jack the car up have a look on the arch maybe they forgot to put something back correctly

is it the drivers or passenger side?

these will not rub with stock wheel and tire setups what wheels and tires do you currently have

Did you install spacers? I really doubt that it will touch with OEM setup.
Could also be your damper pulley on it way out :thumbdo: Ok nevermind, you said wheel area

And where's our pics :hammerhead:
