320d e90 LCI top speed

We found a top speed of 250kmph recorded on one of the senior guys at work's GPS. After some coaxing he admitted that he achieved it with his 320d. Anybody else managed anything remotely like that?

He does a lot of long distance high speed driving. Car is a 2010 model with 140000km on the clock. According to him its because the car was driven hard from the start.

Anybody else share the sentiment that a diesel should be driven hard from the start? its not the first time I have heard this.

250km/h gps speed is very fast, that needle would be past 260 ... 230 is possible on the pre lci without much hard work ... im guessing on a long road with a slight gradient u may be able to hit 250 ... but it still seems unlikely

Well, he only has the 320d and a new 118i now. I dont think any of his cars is tuned and cant see the 1series being faster than the 320d.

:fencelook: I dont think you need to drive it hard from the start, i overtook a 7 car and caravan convoy on my way to kimberly with a open road i downshifted to 5th gear and punched it climbed from 130km/h to about 190 approx when i past the last car.

Most I pushed my 320d was to about 240 km/h clock speed. Accelerates very slowly afetr about 220 km/h.

No, before the tune.

Havnt pushed her hard since the tune. Consumption is even better now though.

Cool. The GPS reading was 247kmph to be precise. So now I know its possible. (it was with an auto btw)

To be very honest....I try to drive normal everyday......and......I fail everyday.

Well this was in May.....so nothing came yet.......:fencelook:
I was going head to head with a F30 320d....He stuck with me all the way but I pulled away at top end.

I think it's definitely possible. Most I pushed my preLCI was to 230, it was climbing really slowly after that and I took my foot off the accelerator as thats a little too fast. But it was at 4am and I was the only car on the road (I was not drunk just doing a long road trip so left early). Oh how I miss my 320d.

Finding a public road to reach those speeds is almost impossible before you have to slow down for traffic. I think official top-end runs with recognised top speeds are more acceptable. :thumbs:

Its possible because i pushed my 320d 2011 M Sport to 245km/h on the way to recently to bloem on the N1...these 320d's really push hey.
