320d decat centurion/pretoria area. Any recomendations?

Hi there guys. I have a 320d e46 2003 model that i would like to take for a full decat. i just want to know more or less what the going rate is for a job like this and if you guys have any places you would recommend in the centurion/ pretoria area. I got a quote of R1600 from a place in centurion,is that a fair price or not? The car runs beautifully but i think the time has come for software and a decat:joy:.

Sometimes its better to take on the extra distance to get it done at a proper well known place.

Xcede and Powerflow Edenvale is where i did my DP/Exhaust. Reasonably priced and excellent work hey.

think he meant DPF removal. 1800 is about right.

Pretty sure the e46 320d and 330d are similar in the fact they don't have a dpf but have cats. Mine had 1 in the downpipe and 2 in the mid pipes. I paid R800 for a dp and R250 each for the cats in the mid pipe. The turbo outlet was only 55mm afaik.

My E90 was R1600 for a 63mm dp. E46 should be cheaper. But I don't know the 320d.

Well i dont quite know what the difference is between dpf and decat,i have heard that people often get good results from a decat followed by a remap(that has already been booked for me). How did your car go after the decat dieselfan?

Fuel consumption dropped and turbo spooled quicker and slightly better response. While I don't know quite what the difference is. I assume it's in the design of how they work. It shouldnt matter whether it's a dpf or a cat in the costing. Also I never needed cat foolers or software tweak. That's not to say yours won't as it's a later year.

Thats good news,although i want to make my car run a bit better im not a guy that gasses it everywhere i go,just the occasional dice here and there so fuel consumption matters. From what i heard i dont need the cat fooler as mine is the earlier 2003 model. I just need to get a few prices and get the job done

I'm not sure where they are based. But contact the forum advertiser excede and they can do the remap and dp in one go for you.

On a diesel the only disadvantage is the car will smoke if it is tuned. On a petrol I suppose the same applies but the diesels smoke quite a bit however if your car is healthy it should not smoke.

You may gain 1 to 3 kw from a dp but the gains are not much it allows the turbo to spool quicker and run cooler. This I suppose allows you to run slightly higher boost and gain more from a remap. And makes your turbo last longer

Just for clarity the car will only not smoke if it is healthy and stock with dp. With tune and dp, healthy or not. It will smoke

Guys do you guys reckon a bormal exhaust shop like Beat Boys for example would be able to do a full decat in my car or wont you recommend it? Im just asking out of curiosity maybe its also something i could consider.

i prefer to use reputable people who know what they are doing.., there are some horror stories on how some guys can mess things up.
