Hey all

2006 320d msport pre LCI

Some advise please my car is coming up on 200k, I have always serviced the car regularly and do a oil change every 7500ks.
I have never had any major engine problems, except a water pump replacement. the car is stock except for a full exhaust and downpipe.
also replaced the clutch and flywheel a month ago

My questions are:

1, What needs to be done on the 200k service?
2, Would it be a good idea to add performance software at such high mileage?
3, What else should be done to ensure I get another 200ks from the car?

thanks in advance

1) oil. Oil filter. Air filter. Cabin filter. Fuel filter. Diff oil. Gearbox oil depending *have ZF test the oil*. You could do a whole host of things. Brake fluid. All depends when this stuff was last done.

2. The car should be fine if it is healthy. If there is a worn part (turbo or gearbox) you may just find out about it earlier.

3. Refer to point 1. Additionally suspension would be quite worn. Have it inspected. Bushes etc. Shocks would probably need to be replaced.

Thanks Diesel,

Basically I planed all in point one,

1, Oil
2, all filters , air, oil, diesel, cabin
3, diff oil
4, replacing disks and pads
Shocks were tested recently and are fine
5, bushes were replaced at 110k, I will definitely replace now as well even though they passed a visual inspection.
6, manual gearbox so not sure on oil replacement there,

With regards to turbo, car is still on original turbo, if anyone has an idea, what does a replacement turbo cost? I'm not into recon, and is there no way to confirm current turbo condition?

What about the starter, I noticed that on occasion, when the car is hot, the start button sometimes doesn't work, after a few tries it starts, could it be the starter and is it serviceable?

Thanks

How did they test shocks. I can tell you they will be quite worn are 200k kms.

I wouldn't just replace bushes that don't need replacing. That's going to cost you quite a bit.

I'd change the gearbox oil.

Turbo is about 12k an original garret from turbo direct.

What happens when the start button doesn't work? If absolutely nothing happens then I doubt it's the starter more likely something wrong with the button.
