Hi all

Need help my 2002 e46 320i doesn't want to start.Since the beginning of winter in the mornings it had a mis,it went a way after about 5mins.Now on Monday morning it started and within a few seconds it died, tried twice then I left it and drove with my other car. When I got home that evening it didn't start at all, took the fuel pump out and it was a problem didn't get good pressure(I suspect thats what cause the mis in the mornings after a while it picks up speed) so I replaced it.I have checked all the fuses and relays all good as well did a diagnostics with carsoft no serious errors.

Please help!!

Tried it still nothing,is there a way to test these sensors because I don't trust the new one.The rev counter goes up when i try to start it which sensor works with the rev counter.

Replaced the fuel filter with the last service. Same errors since I bought the car 1) Can identification Missing 2) BF Instrument Cluster internal error 3) EGS Signal disturbed, did get a mis on a different piston every morning. A auto electrician at my work checked the sensor for me,he used a multimeter and checked the resistance didn't get a reading so this sensor is also faulty. Getting a new 1 tomorrow. In my search I discovered this webpage( http://bmwfans.info/parts/catalog/ ) that gives a part catalog accord to you vin number that helps alot.

Dammit :sorry:

On my ex 320 E36, after doing all the basic checks...has a auto elctrician buddy of mine check it, and it turned out to be a faulty computer box, which could luckily be repaired...

I read that some of these bmw's came out with faulty software and that after a remap it is fixed,is that what you had to do? Im planing on doing that next but for now I have discovered that this engine has overheated at some point.
The intake gasket is hard and has cracks in it,2 breather hoses is broken of and the watertemp sensor has a blue greenish color on the hex.I did replace the radiator, water bottle and thermostat when I bought the car to be save and never had any problems.
I have fallen in love with this car I don't want to get rid of her now but my pocket doesn't go that deep.

Thought I would update this, had a automitive electronics company come out and check my car. They found that the ecu is faulty fixed it and the car still doesn't want to start.Had them here on Friday again and now I do get errors but nothing that sounds like the reason it wouldn't start. So they towed it in on Monday morning and up until now they haven't found the problem.
:cry:It's driving me insane driving a opel when I know I should be driving my BMW!
:bangdesk:Has anyone ever had this problem?

I think I just got the bad 1 out of the bunch a lot of guys that I know drive bmw's and not 1 of them have ever gone through something like this. Some of them have more then 300k on the clock and only had the normal problems with a sensor or 2 that makes sense. These cars are awesome but I would recommend see if you can get a history on the car and maybe a diagnostics done it first. I think the previous owners didn't look after her now it costing me for not checking it properly. :flyfun:

The wires was at the back of the fuse box sounds like they short so when I opened it to check for fuses I must have broken some of and the other is connected to the ecu not sure coming/going where.

Iowka,

If you bring the car through to me, I will sort this thing out personally, you have opened a can of worms by letting people fiddle with it an the ecu/wiring, so who knows what the error could be.

I have just reread this again,

Also does not make sense, is the car running at all or still doing the same thing/was ok and is now doing the same ?

Your welcome to pop past any time dude :)

WHen the guys do come out, ask them what they are using to do the diagnostics ?
