320 D turbo boost

Hi Beemers
I am new to the diesel powered car engines. I am in the process of buying a 320D but it seems that the turbo are not boosting at all. The person selling the car say the boost can be turned down manualy. He did that to stop his wife racing the car. The car I am interested in buying is a 2002 f/l manual. It comes with a spare new turbo.:fencelook:

Sounds like you manually change the boost by installing the new turbo.

yes it sounds to me like he took the liberty of getting a new turbo, but does not want to have it fitted. You never know, might be that the spare turbo is also not functioning properly...

If you can get a technical friend to come check out the car I am sure he'll be able to see if the actuator rod has been adjusted on the turbo or not.
