318is owners, what is your fuel consumption?

Hi guys, Im just curious to know how many KM/L do you get with your 318is?? I bought a '96 318is not too long ago and the car returned an impressive 15.8km/L after a trip around the garden route today (highway driving). Drove 400km and used 25.3 liters when I filled her up again. In town I average about 11km/L. I think its quite impressive for such a big car!

That't flippin amazing...almost impossible really!!!
The BEST I get out of my 98" 318is is 8.3km/L :banghead: - thats mostly town driving.

I have always thought that my consumption was way too high, but other IS drivers say they also have high fuel consumption.

You must be the first guy I've seen who's got good fuek consumption in a 318IS!

I drive allot with my 318IS
Go to Cape Town CBD 4 times a week from Malmesbury,and i drive +- 130-140 km/h
I get 11-11.5 km/l with AC on
If i do just town driving i get 9/10km/l

And i have to say,i don't think it can get any higher than that, maybe if you free all the way!

Im really confused now, why is my car lighter on juice then the other 318is's then? I drove between 110-120km/h all the way, we drove through some steep passes and we drove through some karoo ''dorpies'' aswell!! When I filled up from the start I drove approx 140km before the needle even started to drop slighty from over the full mark to just under full! When we finished the 400km trip the needle stood just under 3/4 mark. I seriously doubt if theres anything wrong with the car because it pulls really well.

Here's a pic I took of the car in one of the passes, just outside Calitzdorp ;)

Hey Werner, I used to have a 318iS as well, put 80k km on her in two years.
110-120kmph without AC I got 15 as well. Got 15 on two full tanks actually, at more than 600km so the difference of an inconsistent refill is cancelled out a bit.

But my normal driving (80% freeway driving) I averaged 13kmpl, 130kmph with me being a very aggressive driver. (I hate Polo's and 1.6 corolla's :bangdesk: , always in the way!!)

worst I got was 11.9kmpl. (worst I checked, did not check when I was pulling a trailer or did just town driving.)

I think later on my air sensor did not make as good contact as it used to, initially I got 14kmpl regularly, that went down to 13

+1
In town 11km/l with hard driving most of the time never ever got below 10km/l had the car for 8 years now.
With town and highway 14km/l.
Best ever was only highway @ most of the time 100km/h that gave me 18km/l
This is the most fuel efficient petrol car with weight and performance in consideration I know off, not even our Corsa 1.4 can do these miles. :)

I'm always jealous when I see 328's and 330's driving around... Until I console myself fuel economy figures :tease: . I drive highway and town combination at around 7.2L per hundred.. Ok given that I drive slowly most times. But thats goodish right?
