318is 1998 model steering wheel issue

Hi friends, I have a problem here, i recently bought a BMW 318is 1998 model. Each time i insert the key in the ignition, and start the car, that is a funny jamming sound on the steering wheel when i try to turn it. And it keeps jamming.

Where do I check the power steering fluid level? I have no Idea, I am just new on BMW and I am in love with it now.

Assuming you have the M44 Engine I think it is located under the Airbox. it looks like this

My 1993 E36 325i didnt have any airbags at all
