Hi All

I am an owner of a 1999 e36 318 is. there is no manual for the car or log book.

I have been enjoing driving this car as it was one I always wanted. I have done a few small changes to the car ie put in new suspension and new wheels. last year Xmas day after coming from lunch the radiator blew...managed to only get it replaced late feb. I have now noticed that the car is ideling rather high at above 1000 revs causing higher petrol consumption that is a problem.

I have spoken to my Mechanic regarding this and he pointed out a little black box sitting ontop of the motor. he reckons I need to give it a tap when it does that however this is a bit of a problem while driving.

I think I had the same problem with mine, before my radiator went. But mine fixed itself the same as it did with many other niggles.

Clean your sensors, should do the trick

Hi Bro,

1 thing i have learnt from driving my 318is and the probs i have encountered is always to remove the battery terminal for 30mins. This normally clears all errors and changes the computer settings to the present way of driving. Give it try it might help.

thanks for the responses guys. I will certainly try that and report back on the matter.

just as a matter of interest my mechanic had a problem trying to sync with the car the last time he worked on it.
