I had this issue on my 2002 E46 318i , when it was new, took it in and BMW (not sure which dealership it was) fitted that bluish almost clear , tape on the black trim, Its been 11 years now and I have never had the problem reoccur . And the Tape is on there just as the day they it was put on.

Looks like a really good quality tape.

thanks for the advice.
I've booked the car in to Auto Glen - they must sort it out. I will revert with outcome.

Hi all

Just some input on this. Mine also suffered from this annoying noise which seems to come from the door rubbers. I was initially looking for something called Gummi Pflege to treat the rubbers but unfortunately no local BMW agent stocked them , so I opted for Aerospace 303 . This worked ,but seemed to only last for about 2 weeks or so ,and has to be reapplied again.

I then took to the dealer and they put some kind of 3m tape on inside of the beadings, this was a waste of time as after 3 days the noise was back.

My only option now is to have the beadings replaced :blueCry:

Hi,

I have the same issue, car has been to BMW 3 times already with lubricant applied to the rubbers. the noise goes away for about 2 to 3 weeks and back again. the issue i have with the lubricant is that it ends up on my windows and seats everytime this is done.

This issue also existed on my Golf 6 which was sorted out in one visit to VW.

Both cars are fitted with smash and grab tint. VW's response was that the panels that were removed when doing the smash and grab was not put back properly which is explained to the BMW technicians over and over again but they always opt for the lubrication route.

Any suggestions on which BMW dealership around JHB that will be willing to listen and try looking at the panels?

Northcliff Auto. Ask for Tony.

He sorted my F30 330D out

Removed headings and coated inner where the felt makes contact with a matte paint.

6 months on and no more noise

There was nothing they could do further and that was that.
