Considered also but the turbo manifold needs to be as short as possible, plus the 3inch downpipe has no space to travel back without being lower than the lowest part of the car, you know my E36 is damn low as it is.

Here is why there is no space on the near side.

Was never a fan of non 6cyl BMW motors, boosted or not. So u know where my vote will be.
Statement was in reference to your poll. Also love the 8, not the 10 and 12.

Hate the 4.

run the down pipe up high next to the head? do you have a pic of the exhaust side of the engine :)

runners should not be that much longer than if you mounted the turbo in the AC location

Turbo E36... Don't do it. Costs plus it will never be special. It will be like a jap engine. Soul equals zero.

Go the NA 3.2 route. It will bring more smiles to your face due to its character!

Aftermarket turbo cars spend more time on trestles than their wheels due to teething issues and such. Break downs will be more common too so for the simplicity and reliability of a good strong NA setup, I think I have made up my mind on the subject. The poll is unanimous too.
My dad agrees with the benefits and creature comforts plus added safety of the proposed 6cyl swap too.

^ happy wife, happy life.

Didn't say I would get rid of the M42 as I have a stock M52B28 that can go into the TV (techno violet) for resale...:fencelook:

Without reading your first post I voted N/A. I'm surprised you haven't started with the swap out yet :)

Your first post ended up being the perfect and most convincing post to go the 3.2 N/a route. Coupled with what Yasheen said. The character will be epic! That LSdiff and short ratio and motor is going to be mental.

Johnny8bit's 328i has something to do with it, that 328i goes like stink and sounds really good. I could do with that in my life.

USA spec e36 m3 clone here we come!

So its settled then. I will bore the block to 86mm and use M54 b30 crank, giving me 3.2lt displacement. I have used opel superboss pistons (86mm) in the past with great success, need to work out the deck height and compression ratios as I want around 11:1.
I have been saving a set of s50b32 headers for a build like this, S50b30 injectors and S50b32 fuel pump also in my stores, will source a m50b25 intake manifold too.
The more I think about it the more excited I'm getting!

Anyone got a M54B30 intake cam lying about somewhere?

Aha! Thanks, although you did have a hand in it.

Go 6cyl man, I just can't get away from the reliability concerns of a turbo car.

I voted 3.2.

But another alternative is to fit long duration cams to the M42, DTM style CF airbox with your current ITBs, large dia header and move the redline to 8k :)

There will be plenty of space to re fit the AC
