We need to jump start the organiser! Hehe. Perhaps look what the exact road closures and routes will be for the 94.7 cycle challenge, and decide based on that where the best place is to have this. The ones who are leading the arrangements of this I mean...

Then we can confirm a place and start working on the finer details... I'm saying too much for a n00b :p

Oh and whoever is updating the list - E90 320i

I'll be sitting on the BJ's bridge over the N1 north waiting for you guys to make up your mind....So lets meet there and then drive through to where ever you guys decide to go.

Its got quite a bit of parking and I have met up with the Subaru club there before, after that we went for a spirited drive through the cradle of human kind! what a blast!!!

May I suggest the News Cafe (cnr New Road/Lever) still as a meeting point. The problem with the New Road bridge is that it is difficult to access from N1 south as well as getting onto it from Midrand (as you gotto go back all the way to Allendale). Also an issue for the PTA/Centurion guys.

NB: The News Cafe is about 1KM from BJs in any case.

@Gizmo: I assume I can add you to the list?

@Coisman: Please leave your G-sting at home for this one :)

So, how should we do this, should the meeting point be where we will be having breakfast? or will we meet up somewhere then go somewhere for breakfast.

The news cafe seems like a good meeting point if we are planning to then drive somewhere else for breakfast, as the issue of price has been mentioned with regards to news cafe.

Also we should think about the order things will be done in: (maybe something like this)
1 Meet up somewhere, like news cafe

2 Drive somewhere for breakfast (somewhere cheap, like spur or wimpy :) )

3 Drive somewhere for the photo shoot, should be somewhere with open space, coisman recommended (somewhere in the earlier posts) kyalami, I think this is a pretty good idea to have to photo shoot kyalami, or any racetrack for that matter, as it will probably provide the best "scenery"

4 ..uh... have the photo shoot (uber mentioned that he would be willing to take some photos)

What I have given here is just my ideas and opinions and nothing is set in stone so it is open to discussion
So, now lets discuss the specifics of each point, and the order.

Okay I've asked some of my friends for ideas. There's a restaurant-at-a-nursery right round the corner from Spur called Papachino's which is quite nice, as a potential alternative to Spur. It's literally round the corner.

I thought maybe the Kyalami Castle could offer enough access for decent photos, but we'd have to somehow get across the R55 and on to Main Road to reach the Castle and the cycle challenge is on that whole stretch of R55, so technically anything on that side of the R55 will be inaccessable to us.

So what I can think of off the top of my head in Midrand *this* side of the R55 is perhaps using Vodaworld as a backdrop. They have that rather nice looking building just to the right when you enter. Vodaworld is down the road from the Newscafe as well which helps things a bit.

Also the shopping centre across from the one where Newscafe is has a Wimpy and a Dros, perhaps as an easier and more accessible alternative to Spur which is further into Midrand (and Spur being on the sidelines of the cycle challenge might be busy).

That's the suggestions I can come up with thus far, I think Dros would make an ideal meeting/breakfast place and Vodaworld an ideal place for sleek photos rather than scenic ones... But waiting for more ideas to come through so I'll post them as I get any!

What about Centurion - the place we met the last time (ok, there were only 4 of us, including Kobus and myself). The centre is the Centurion Lifestyle centre (opposite Builders Warehouse in Centurion) - there's a new McDonalds McCafe there, for those on a budget as well as a Spur and a Wimpy - we can decide where to eat based on majority vote in the morning, as we will have a few options at this centre

However, there's usually lots of empty parking (near the Mr Price Home end), including undercover parking at this centre.

NB: I stay in Midrand, but can't think of any other decent places there - hence the Centurion alternative ...

What do you guys think???

The centre with Wimpy/Dros is usually crazy on weekends - with 30 odd cars, we're gonna struggle to get in.

Was also thinking of Vodaworld, but it's a "corporate" park and we may get kicked out if we pitch up in so many cars and hang around the car park :nono:

The Centurion deal will work.
It's twice been the Pretoria people having to drive to Midrand, jhb, parys...
we don't mind, cause we love driving our cars, but it might be nice to get together closer to Pretoria for a change.

Centurion will certainly be easier regarding closed off roads at least. I won't mind going through to there at all, my vote is Centurion too, I like that idea :)

Centurion lifestyle is a great idea! There's always :censored: loads of open parking! :) Plus there's a spur there if memory serves correct

Right, now we are getting somewhere :)

Unfortunately I can't add a poll as I can no longer edit my original post :( (posted more than a week ago so no edit :nono: )
Guess we should just do it on a post basis.

The lifestyle mall sounds like a good idea to me.

Not sure, but if you on the N1 you take Old JHB road offramp and then it's like 3-4 KM's down old JHB and you're there.
