A few different renders of a brand new X7 coming up.

Apparently BMW will reveal the X7 later this year.

Still think it's much better than the GLS

It might not be as fancy looking, but I like the latest Land Cruiser 200 :=):

Yup and if you pay R1.3mill for a Land Cruiser 200 VX 4.5TD today, drive it for five years and put 200 000km on it you'll still get back R750 to R800k back on selling it..... try that with any other vehicle:=):

Sometimes there can be just too much of a good thing. Looks too big and unwieldy.

Peter - an X11... hahaha

This is exactly why I don't have one :roflol:

Damn things don't come down to my price range.

Okay, so this might be a bit controversial, but its my opinion and I'm entitled to it.

I currently drive an F10 and when the G30 was announced, i thought it was a straight change when it was time, only for me to see the price and be massively disappointed that I am not getting much more car, for almost double the price.

I then started to look at the F15 (with 2 kids - an infant-pram etc), it seemed logical from a size point of view, but then i started thinking what I was actually getting for my money, then came to the realization that while i would get more boot height (volume is about the same to the F10), i was actually paying alot for the X-drive.

a few test drives confirmed that as far as 4x4 goes, its not up to scratch. The curb clearance isnt good. (just look at wrecked ones and most often you find transmission/transfer case, diff damage because its too low).

In effect then, i would be spending alot for off-road capabilities, without being able to pursue that realistically, as the car just isnt designed for it.

Insert a trip to dubai and dune bashing in a Land Cruiser V8 200 with heavy aunties at the back and the car didnt miss a beat.

Came back to SA and started seriously looking at them and came to the conclusion that it is a much better value for money purchase. Space isnt an issue, power isnt an issue, comfort isnt an issue and resale isnt a problem.

I have one problem - my garage is too small to accomodate it.
I am trying to get around that in the meantime and still looking for a decent deal.

If this X7 is meant to be a landcruiser killer, it better be able to go offroad for real, or it will just become the fodder of the Blue light brigade and nothing more.

The flaw with your thinking is that the BMW X-range was never designed as an offroader, I don't care who says what

It was designed for easy clearance of the autumn leaves that are on the driveway, and for sleety European roads.

The Toyota will always be more value for money. They are cheaper than the top of the range X's, they hold their value better, they have the same comforts with even more space, better ground clearance and they come with the reliability factor that most Toyota's are known for.

In SA, the bigger X-class will always be a status symbol and nothing more. This doesn't mean I won't want the X7 though

Its hard to beat a Land Cruiser for comfort, space, retail and versatility.

This X7 will in all probability be driven predominantly by people with very little driving skill, occasionally climbing curbs and taking up 2 parking spaces:skit::hammerhead::skit:

Not everyone buys an SUV to take off road. It's got more space than a car and feels safer on the road.

X7 may not compete with the land cruiser in the dunes in Dubai, not much will.

For everyting else, I would want an X7
