2016 F30 340i - No Manual Option?!

So, I've been fishing around online trying to find some answers about this.
It seems like the new LCI 340i (formally 335i) doesn't come in a 6 speed manual option for ZA markets!

I know it's definitely available in other regions but - so far - it seems it's not available here. I reached out to BMW's email customer support, and they "confirmed" it but, honestly, I've had conflicting feedback from some of these guys before.

Is there anybody else out there who can either confirm or deny this?

AFAIK, the 335i wasn't offered in manual either, only in 8 Speed Sports Auto. So I'm guessing the 340i will be the same (for our market anyway)

Last I heard BMW are offering the autos as std, manual only available if you feel like waiting three months for a custom order. When I ordered my 125i with manual gearbox the salesman asked me in 3 following emails if I was sure about that, looks like they think you are mental if you don't what the auto. I know the autos are fantastic, its just for me personally I kinda like changing gears the old fashioned way.

Haha
This seems to make the most sense. Since they're available in other markets - and BMW knows what kind of people drive their cars - surely they can make it happen, if the customer wants it.

The auto/Steptronic 'boxes are fantastic, make no mistake, but one of my biggest regrets was not waiting until a manual deal came around. I found a used auto E90, and it was too good to pass up. I HAVE to have a manual next time around.

i have an E90 Manual 335i
i know someone with a F30 man 335i

im sure the 340i can be found in SA in Manual, BMW wont throw away the "man" market.

These guys allow us to get a first hand feel of the difference between DCT and manual. What an entertaining and honest presentation of the two. I will never buy anything but manual personally. It's interesting to not what an M4 DCT owner has to say about the manual version!

Enjoy!

Why would you not get a DSG with this car? These are designed with that box in mind. Just works!

Because there is no DSG gearbox for BMW's? This car comes with either a ZF8 speed single clutch gearbox, or 6 speed manual.

Other cars such as the M's have the dual clutch "DCT" option. And the old E8X/E9X X35i's. The ZF gear boxes are quick though!
