2014 F15 50i RTTI ?

Hi All

I hope some one can help me or point me in the right direction (or put mt in touch with someone that might know).

September last year I bought a X5 50i 2014 F15 with very low mileage. I had the F30 340i LCI before then with the complete Connected Drive packages. One of the most used features for me was the Real Time Traffic Information.

But, it seems my X5 does not have it because it's an older model. It does have Connected Drive but I'm not exactly sure what it connects to? Even says this below the high beam assist sensor on the windscreen.

The SatNav does have the RTTI options but nothing happens. If I try to add the car to the connected drive portal it can't find any information on the car.

My question, is there any retrofit I can do to get RTTI to work. I'm not worried about the Concierge Service or anything else. Just RTTI. Even if it somehow uses my phone's data this will be fine.

I hope someone can give me some good news.

Regards,

Riaan

As far as i know there is a subscription required for RTTI.

First step would be to take your VIN number, register on the connected drive south african website, add your vehicle using the VIN and see what options are available to you in the Connected Drive store.

The last time i checked RTTI was available as a yearly subscription for a minimal fee.

Heres the link to the connected drive website

Is your vehicle factory fitted with a sim card?
I.e Do you have the SOS button next to the sunroof switch?

This is the issue I have. My 2014 M135i does not have a SIM card hence I cannot register the VIN.

Yes unfortunately if there is no factory fitted sim card there is no real time traffic either as its uses that connection to tap into INNX and pull through the live traffic.

This cannot be retrofitted either.

You can use something like WAZE on your phone everytime you go somewhere.

Seems shitty that they will sell a vehicle with connected drive as an optional extra (paid for) if you cant use it?

He doesn't have the sim, so he doesn't have connected drive.

Keep in mind the sim is not inserted anywhere. The sim is hardwired in the telemetry system in the boot somewhere. Hence retrofitting not being an option.
