Hey Guys,

In 2018 I bought a used BMW X1 sDrive 20i Petrol around 39000km

The car was in good condition, no accidents or any repair done with Full service history, I know this because it is bought from a good friend, and I know how they drive.

Anyways, last week around 81000km I see that the car is getting smoke from the engine bay, I was panicking and I see that the area is having oil leaks was quite bad...

So from my guess its the Valve Cover and the Oil Filter Housing area...I did my research and I see its a common problem for N20 engines....

Anyways, the car is out of motor plan so i decided to take the car to a ex-bmw mechanic to get it fixed.

after 2 days the car is back and no more leaks!

BUT now.....this issue I'm getting is.

All the mechanic did was unplug the battery, and only work on the areas of the problem new Valve cover, new gasket for oil filter housing, and regular service of the car with new oil and oil filter etc.

After getting the car back, i realized that the car doesn't PRIME when I let it sit for hours now. If I leave it over night it used to make this humming/buzzing noise, and apparently its the fuel pump priming the engine? Anyways, this has stopped, no more priming....No fault codes, and car starts fine, drive nice and no problems....as If the car isn't going into "Sleep" mode and stays awake all the time now?

What I wanted to know is, will it fix the issue if I unplug the batter again to "Reset" the ecu and hope it will work again?

Another thing is, the door doesn't auto unlock when I shut the car off, it used to do this, but not anymore?
the BMW iDrive system doesn't have the option in the settings, ONLY Doors, no KEY option. And no option to unlock car when shutting off.

Is this a mechanical fault, did something screw up? These two issues aren't making that much impact with day to day usage, just really would like to the car to be back what it used to be....

Do I need to visit BMW for them to diagnose the issue and perhaps recode the features back in???

Last thing is, i'm getting the Bonnet not closed properly alert....even though I know my bonnet is really shut, and no play whatsoever when I try and lift the bonnet from the headlight space....Althought I realized the two latches on the side seems quite....stiff, is it because of the latches no engaging properly or could it be a faulty bonnet sensor thing?

Yes I would start by getting a proper diagnostics on the car, and then take it from there.
Ii would believe a BMW dealer would cost way more than an indy workshop.
Also when last was your battery changed?
