I have a question.

I am interested in buying a 2014 118i M steptronic. There car is selling for R100 000 and has 56000 on the clock. Would this be advisable? or is there something i should look out for?

Faced with a unknown amount of variables from your post, I am going to say - GO for it!

Just kidding, do some research and make an informed decision. Im not familiar with the engine in the 118i, but a google search will most probably reveal the answer

OP, that price is way off for the year/mileage, so it definitely doesn’t seem right.

Look at the link below. These motors are known for being quite problematic.

The N16 motor comes with a whole set of issues. That said our B38 has given us the biggest headaches of all... I did not even have energy to make a thread for what was done to the car..

I don't know of the B24 motor, all I can say is that 3/4 cyl petrol engines have given us enough headaches. Rather look for a 120d with the N47, that is a solid engine IMO. Other than the 6cyl variants which is all I will try to stick with for as long as I can!

My friend just sold his Out of motorplan 2012 116i with 68 000k to we buy cars for R209 000 .

There is something fishy about this deal to me.

That will be the N13B16 motor which is the exact same motor as in the thread I quoted above.

I wouldn’t even think twice about buying that car.

As mentioned above, rather go for the 120d.

If it's on Gumtree, It's a scam, 1oo%, there is no way that car will sell for that low price, so it is literally too good to be true..
