There seems to be confusion as to what engines they really want to use, M3 --- I6, V8, V6, M5 --- I6, V8, V10, V8

I like the look, going back to the E46 styling (not that there is anything wrong with the E9X).

Engine note side, lacks that high pitch awesomeness. I'm sure it will change a lot with the final product. Hard to get the turbo noise out of the engine note.

Be patient bro, the Germans know what they doing, the M division has NEVER failed its BMW fans!

I am pretty confident that it WILL be a V6, actually might change this to 100% certain

it will be a S63 with 2 cylinders chopped of..

it's not even like I6 is synonymous with M3. e30 was I4, e9x V8.

one thing I know for sure, it will be faster, more powerful and lighter than the previous ones.

Well theres alot of speculation between the current M3 and the C63 AMG, both render phenominal figures, i think the true test will be in the German DTM series this year and bear in mind BMW was absent from this competition for nearly a decade! Knowing BMW and being a fan, im sure they plan on making a BANG of a comeback!

One reason is that the V6 is smaller so more space to other junk.

Another reason could possibly be that they are using it as a test bench for replacing all I6's (x35i/d designated cars) with V6's to open up the possibility of FWD cars through say the entire 1 and 3 range and part of the 5 and 7 range.
