Good day

Guys im considering trading in my wives vw tiguan 1.4 tsi.

Looking at the X1. Please tell me more about the different engine sizes and what gearbox work best with what engines.

Waiting to have a look at a 1.8i auto. Please keep in mind my wife is going to use it as a daily and we also going to use it as our holiday car when we going to visit friend in the northern cape.

Please share thanks

The 18i is horribly underpowered especially since you are used to a turbo motor. They are heavy on fuel because it needs to work harder than the 20i turbo petrol and 20d.

You can't go wrong with the 20d in terms of power and fuel efficiency... I drove Donford's one for a weekend and only used 1/4 tank on a 260km trip.

2.0d with the 8spd auto, the 8spd auto was only found in the facelift though.

It's an absolute dream, for daily commute, not as spacious, but stil sufficient space.

My wife just averaged 6.2 on her last tank, but that included some trips on the N1

Hey there,

We had the 2.0d sDrive Auto in MSport spec... was an excellent car. Awesome/reliable power, great fuel consumption (made 5.8/100 down to the Cape from JHB - and not slow)...

Best of luck!

Regards,

Pete

In Agreement with Sash as well here. Also bought the wife a 2013 x1 facelift 2.0d facelift 8 speed auto and local stop and go traffic gives her 7.6. Runs on diesel fumes.:coolShake:

My wife is comfortable driving my E60, but she definitely enjoys driving the X1 more. Something about the higher sitting position that females prefer hehe.

My Wife love the power of my E46 330i but like you said i think the reason she love her Tiguan more is about the higher seating position as well and because she do not have to worry about the potholes because of the bigger size tyres.
