2011 E90 330d Bad Smell From Vents

Hi Guys,

Have noticed that after I have used the aircon and then just use the normal ram air through the vents there is a shitty odour that I smell. {Car is still on M/Plan}

Had the same with my 520d and they eventually replaced the entire evaporator unit but as I stay far from a dealership it costs me a days leave or two to travel, I have read on other forums overseas that you can use a normal deodorizer like Domestos and empty the can through the filter unit under the bonnet???

Any suggestions bar taking it in????

Change micro filter.

Liquimoly make a product which does what you're wanting to do. It's called climafresh or something. Speak to one of the advertisers who sell liquimoly. Moranor or ratslaaf

Pull out your pollen filters, clean them out and satitise them.

Use a dedicated Aircon cleaner as well - I used the Auto Glym one from Crazy Detailer and it worked like a charm.

How does the aircon cleaner from autoglym work? Is it like liquimoly where you crack the can and leave it in the footwell to filter it through the evaporator?

Yeah I also get it from time to time. Replace the Microfilters and run the Klima Fresh or similar product in your car.

Wurth Aircon disinfectant works wonders. It kills the backteria. My way of doing a proper elimination of bad odour. Remove the pollen filter that sits in engin bay. Close all the windows make sure you are not selected on recycle air and the Fan is blowing while car is at idle. Then spray in about half a can into the fan where the pollen filter sits. After spraying hold your breath open door switch on aircon an set to recycle air for 5 minute's. After that switch off car and leave over night. You can refit pollen filter also in the engine bay. In morning open all windows and vent car and it will be nice and clean and last you years.
