Good day Gents

I don't know if some of you can recall, but I was posting a while ago asking between the F20 120d, F20 125i when I wanted to trade in my 2011 X3 Msport.

After shopping for a long time I stumbled upon a white 2011 320d Msport, e90, 34 000km on the clock. Fantastic - 2 days later it was mine.

I couldnt justify paying ontop of my trade in to get the new 1 series even though it was great ride when I owned one in germany.

My point is - e90 320d ! WOW. :praise: What a car, it really took me by surprise how much power that thing got. Sexy as hell and love the options to modify it with black.

I do find the automatic gearbox a bit "harsher" than that which I had on the X3. But as its under MP I am not too worried if something would go wrong.

I drove it hard from Cape Town to Mosselbay, and it went up to 8.5/100km, which was reasonable.

On my new tank I am driving it very grandma-like [not going over 2300 revs plus the occasional overtake] and I am getting 6.5 - 6.7/100km in town, robots, plus a 10 km highway commute.

Will I be able to drop underneath the 6/100km range?

I tested it once from Mosselbay to George going at 125kmh cruise controle [6.5/100km], and it was the same as when I was going 135 or even 140kmh [6.5 bordering on 6.6/100km] on my way back.

  • So what figures could I be expecting? Or hoping for?
  • How could I improve the figures?
  • Mod wise, best place to darken the rims?
  • What other mods could I do visual vise and engine wise whilst keeping my MP?

All I can say is that I am glad to have gone for the e90 diesel, powerful and sexy looking and a divine drive...
:inlove::inlove::inlove:

PS, who could I contact with regard to the following mods [I am situated in the Western Cape area]

Exhaust tips
Mat Black Kidneys [just need to get the manual, already have got the spray]
Carbon Fiber Mirror Covers
Carbon Fiber Boot Spoiler
Carbon Fiber Door Pillars
Mat Black Powder Coated Rims

Any advise would be appreciated.

There are a few revisions of gearbox software. Normally you pay for updates out of MP - I guess in your case, just go complain that there's something wrong with the gear changes and they should load the latest gearbox software. However, it all depends on the dealer - some are more helpful than others.

Congrats! Diesel torque FTW :praise: My gearbox actually does feel harsh too if I can put is like that.. in sport it jerks the car when shifting manually.. I shall go harass them for a SW update too! On your consumption figures I think it's a bit high for open roads even when driven hard.. in town I struggle to get it below 7/100 open roads I get 4.2-4.5/100.

+1 mine does this aswell, 2011 320D..After driving it abit hard it tends to gear down aggressively in auto at the slightest increase in acceleration....thought it was normal ...sometimes feels like it going into 2nd gear from 4th
