2011 BMW sDrive 18i

Anywhere in the Randburg area where I can get my 2011 BMW sDrive 18i checked out or tuned correctly?

I bought this car September 2016 with 98000km on the clock and have gone up to 128000km. My problem is that the fuel consumption is very high at 10.5/100 and has never gone below 10/100. Secondly the power in this car is not what I expect from a 1995cc engine.

Any advice?

Rated Power/Rated Engine Speed (kW/rpm)
110/6400
Max Torque/EngineSpeed (Nm/rpm)
200/3600

Fuel Consumption
In Town (l/100km)
104 (M)
10.9 (A)
Out of Town (l/100km)
6.2
Combined (l/100km)

Based on the above, how slow does it feel?
What type of driving are you doing

Hi Sash, it's when I try to overtake another car or stop at a stop street and pull away where it feels very sluggish or no power at all to the point where I don't overtake unless I know there is enough time for me to get past. I can push the petrol down all the way still takes it's time to get up to speed. Another thing is when i'm doing high speeds of 140 or so and hit a slight hill, the car immediately loses power dropping 10 km p/hour or more.

It's a manual 6 speed so I normally try change gears at 4000rpm which keeps the speed up but when I hit 5000 rpm it feels as if the car pulls back, almost as if the motor is governed or something.

As I posted earlier (can’t find my post):

“Unfortunately that car has one of BMWs worst performing motors in and with it being naturally aspirated there isn’t much (if anything) you can do about it. Your fuel consumption is also spot on for that car.

Best is to enjoy the smoothness of the motor, save up and buy something with a bit more get up and go at a later stage.

Good luck:thumbs:”

Ok tx Ferdi, at least it's a comfortable drive so might hang on to it for a little longer...

Just to give you some sort of perspective on fuel consumption when you will be looking for a new ride or upgrade.

I drive an E90 330i manual, also a NA motor 3L.
My fuel consumption as it stands today is 10 - 13L /100km in town and 6 - 8L on the freeway. Combined I am sitting on 8.3L/100km and this is with 20% city and 80% highway.

So if you look for the upgrade, dont look at fuel consumption as it is almost the same unless you go diesel vs petrol.

I also drove a E36 316i in the beginning and had the same problem you have where if you need to overtake the person can be spiteful and go faster and block you in to avoid the overtake. Got to a point where I just traded in the E36 for and E46 330i. Now I play with them when overtaking, he blocks ..... I smile, wink and wave and go past. Did that on this past Monday when some idiot in his fortuner decided to block me, lets say we had our fun :smilebounce:

Not saying that there isnt a problem. I would suggest one of our advertisers Gizmo@garage46 as he would go through the car with a fine tooth comb.
