Hi Guys

can anybody shed light on which E-series models came with a Dipstick/oil level sensor?

Both of my old 1 series' and my Z4 have an oil level sensor that I can check on my OBC.
however on the 320d there is a dipstick only..
I would assume all models after 2005 come with the oil level sensor?

I drive a 2005 E90 330i, that only has the oil sensor no dipstick ....... stupid if you ask me. My friend drives a 2006 E90 320d which has both the dipstick and the sensor. Also prefer the dipstick as you need to idle your car for 5min to see oil level, not the smartest idea from bmw :RedNo:

The sensor does.

Monday my car was on half, oil level and I bought 1x500ml 5w40 and added it to the engine, ofcourse some moroon in bmw didnt give me a dipstick to read my oil so I had to rely on my trusty sensor. Starting the car after the addition I noticed the oil level was still 1/2, weird I though and just thought maybe it was more empty then it said. Proceeded to drive home, halfway home i.e 30kms later I decided to look into it again and found that my oil sensor has decided that it isnt 1/2 but almost full. Luckily I wasnt proactive and added 1 more 500ml oil to my car.

So yes it is accurate but only after I would say 10 minutes of driving. That initial result is a bit worrying. Oh, the home trip is from Albertinia to Mosselbay, 50km but do that in 25 minutes
