My colleague has a 2009 X3 30i that has a water leak, he is not 100% sure, but a mechie told him its the thermostat.

How much will a replacement cost him with labor? car out of MP

Most likely culprit would be the expansion tank, followed by the thermoswitch (in the bottom radiator pipe). A cracked thermostat housing is also possible.

None of these are dealbreakers to get fixed.
