Thanks Dr Evil that's a nice compliment.

I do miss that bike I sold. I wish I phoned Minoli the day before I bought this bike as he was selling it, I would have bought it back in a heart beat! I cried when I sold that bike and afterwards sat back wandering what the hell I just did. Now I have had to go through all of this to get this bike to look similar as the black and gold R6 isn't that easy to come by and its by far my favorite colour scheme.

I saw a 2008 model advertised on gumtree the other day here in cape town, black and gold, it is a rare colour, like you said, everyone always buy the blue ones

Update time:

So here she is with the gold rims fitted! I had some issues fitting them with regards to the rear caliper, but I just managed to fix that now, I also re-greased the rear axel and put copper slip on all the nuts and bolts for the front and rear wheel. I have never taken a bike wheel on or off so this was quite a learning experience for me.

Here she is without a polish yet or yamaha emblems on the sides of the tank, but once she gets her polish to get that new paint as smooth as glass I will post more pics. Right now I am very happy with where she is right now.

Thanks guys.

I agree it is definitely one of the sexiest bikes around, I do like the BMW S1000rr for its performance and all the great tech on it but the non symmetrical headlights and side fairings put me off a bit, however I still love it. That and the Ducati 1199 and 899 Panigale look beautiful but then the sound of them I really don't like. Allot of people love the sound of a Ducati but I really don't, a super bike should scream not rumble like a Harley.

I like the R6 so much and after reading the thread I bought one!
Grey/ matt.

Where did you buy the projector lights?

@ NE91 - I am glad I inspired you into buying an R6 and congrats on a beautiful purchase man, it looks to be very well kept, by the length of the exhaust it looks to be a 2010 or later model.

If its your first bike I would recomend taking it to the race track and getting a feel for cornering as it will help you with your road riding allot and help you understand how the bike behaves at high speed because you will be going fast on the road it's inevitable as I am sure you have realized already :)

If you have already owned a super bike then happy riding man and hopefully we can go for a ride one of these days.

So its been a while since I posted any updates on my bike, needless to say I have done a few extra things here and there.

Some tire decals that I painted onto my tire, this was a mission I wont lie!

Painted the cut off plates red inside the projectors that I fitted and switched the stock clear screen visor for a red one to match :)

and then this weekend I had some fun at Swartkops, Next time I will bring my gopro, but this time I got a pic from my dads phone.

Awesome build. Well done.

I owned a 2008 R6 myself which we converted into a track bike. Lovely machines but they need steering dampers :)

Thanks :) I have bought a Scott's steering damper, just waiting for the power pin to arrive.

Where did you buy the track fairings from?

So I did a full exhaust on my bike last weekend, Full yoshi system from headers to pipe, then swapped out the yoshi slip on for the GYTR slip on that I sanded down and sprayed mat black.

I have also reconnected my power commander now. Exhaust is popping blue flames on gear down, will go pro it soon and upload. This bike is performing now like a machine! and sounds insane. Very happy, it also feels much lighter, the difference in weight between the full stock exhaust and this is ridiculous. bike actually feels a bit unstable now so I need to set my suspension up to give it more damping and perhaps more sag. its too twitchy now.

My swing arm will be replaced with the spare one soon as I get it sprayed.

Oh very nice. Yeah removing the stock exhaust and cat does make a difference on weight. Felt that as well when I did mine.
What power commander are you using?
