2008 X5 3.0SD E70 HELP IN CPTN PLEASE

So my car was at "brilliant mechanical workshop" for 2 weeks, problem was it was cutting out whilst driving, then refused to start. After countless diagnostic replaced fuel injector number 5, replaced in tank fuel pressure pump {then removed} and put back old one as they told me that it seemed to be rail pressure problem!

The car now starts and drives as it should but now when you down kick as she is auto it cuts out - so been told that seems like demand problem, now third week and my car still f*cked although at least you can drive it through the gears quite normally.

Been "ushered" away from "brilliant mechanical workshop" as the big days were in the way and actually I got the feeling they couldn't wait to see the back of my X5, the story was is that they can do no more as there diagnostic machines only go so far - WTF ......

Can someone point me to real DIESEL boffins in CPTN that have the correct equipment and knowledge and I won't have to take out a bond to fix my car, I have heard that JEG Diesel are the guys to go to so I will be heading there when they open, any other advice will be welcome!!!!

Hey dude, I did read your last thread and unfortunately it does sound like you bought a lemon. As far as diagnostics go, brilliant uses an autologic unit which as as close to dealer level diagnostics you will get. If the car is not throwing errors its more than likely going to be a process of elimination as to what is wrong. It does sound to me like its a fuel issue. And rail pressure does sound like it could be the issue.

No one on the internet is going to be able to tell you what exactly is wrong. If it were my car I would go on their advice. Maybe source second hand parts if the car is becoming unfeasible to repair.

I would also start with the cheapest option.

And that is changing the fuel filter, have you done this already?

From what I've browsed on google. Rail pressure seems pretty viable as the cause could be high pressure fuel pump. You're unfortunately going to have to diagnose by process of elimination.

Took my car to Zemax, great efficient service...

Dont know if they will be able to help, but just my 2c.

Yup the first thing I changed was fuel filter, have been to Brilliant and sorry will not return! Zeemax are excellent as I have had my old 2004 M3 round there some Years ago but they are not so much Diesel "I have been told" so will take it to Bosch where they have all the CORRECT diagnostic equipment and technicians to diagnose correctly and not play the elimination game at my expense!!!

So has zeemax got to butcher another car or have you gone to a bosch service centre with their so called "correct" diagnostics machines and bmw master techs? Keep us posted.

I don't know what they did bud but they must have, we have discovered now with actual professionals working on the car that the sensor on the main pump was not even "reconnected" after it being at Brilliant, as soon as they connect it gives an immediate call up so we PRAY it is just this sensor, if not must look for a refurbished pump somewhere out there :=):
