Hi All
Just bought the X3 with 169k on the clock. Just wanted to get a feel of how to best look after the vehicle mechanically. I've skimmed through the posts here and saw that if one looks after the car nicely, it can go forever. Any pointers/ things to look out for?

Thanks a lot! Will do so in the morning.

Something that has come up though, the master window switch failed today. The others work fine, as well as the mirrors. I checked the fuses and they are fine. What could be the problem?

And the run flat indicator also came on, but it doesn't even have run flats...

You have the Si which has the N52 engine so I suggest you start saving for a new water pump and thermostat as they frightfully expensive, a visit to Carbon doctor will help too. Service the car more regularly and make sure tyre pressures are correct and that the tyre sizes are correct as these if wrong will put strain on the transfer case which is a weak point on these cars.

X3 is factory equipped with tyre pressure monitoring via ABS sensors, you have a flat/low tyre.

What are we looking at for the pump and thermostat?

I checked the pressures for the tyre size (255/55R17) and it was low at the time. Pumped them to the requirement but the indicator still on. Any way of resetting it?

While stationary, press and hold the tyre button in until the light changes to orange, reset done.
