2008 E92 335i Auto Issues

Hi all,

Looking for some advice on issues with an E92 335i. Recently purchased by my brother inlaw. In the morning when you start the car and try engage either Drive or Reverse nothing happens. Only after the car has been running for a while does the gearbox start to work. Also when you start it up there is a clunk noise from the box.

the car currently has 65000km on the clock. Any insights will be appreciated.

I drive a 2008 E92 335i with auto/steptronic and I have never noticed a clunk or needing to wait to engage gears. Doesn't sound normal.
Let us know the outcome.

sounds like you have an oil pressure problem in that gearbox... good luck and keep us informed..

Tried to drive the car today and when you put it in R the gear inficator shows R then jumps to N. Now also getting a transmission faulty error message on the idrive screen. Sometimes it goes into gear then jumps out as you are reversing.

Will get diagnosis done on Tuesday and update..

It can be the feedback sensor in the tranny. Cheap'ish part but you have to strip the box to get to it, so labour will be expensive.

Just an update.. Turns out was the seals at the valve body/mechtronics. Replaced seals and all good again..
