It doesnt matter how much quicker a desiel BMW is to its petrol counterpart, it still sounds like sh!t!
Give the e90 320i a break, its entry level and is aimed at a certain market segment. Some people couldnt realy care how fast the car is, there is more to it than just power.
So what if its slow, its comfy, good consumption, decent features and its a BMW.

If you want something sportier buy a 323i or >

The tractors run on the devils fuel and limit quite early, the 4 potters can be a tad underpowered, the I6 are sublime but might be phased out, the V8&V10's yield the power of the gods but can cost a kings ransom at the pumps....We all love the brand warts and all now can we just get along....:clap::clap:

Kumbaya, kumbaya....:):):)

P.S Did not mention the bikes, cos they scratch my sump guard when they pass under my car.....:mmm::mmm::mmm:

Read some interesting facts in the Dynamic's Service Manual under '3 Series Specifications'. Under the '80 - 120km/h acceleration times the following:

(These times are for manual vehicles travelling in 4th gear)

m3 - 4.9 sec
335i - 5.1 sec
330i - 5.6 sec
320d - 5.9 sec  Only 1sec slower than the M3!
320i - 9 sec :dropjaw: .... Eina!

Translated it means getting out your diary and make an appointment if you want to overtake another vehicle... :)

Hi Guys,

I have to appologize to the people who own one of these cars... So sorry for what follows...

Its a piece of :cursin: :cursin: :cursin: :cursin: to say the least!! I took the Dynamic in for a vanity mirror light replacement and a paint chip repair this morning, so I get a 2008 320i Auto for the day with 65000km on the clock.

It's rubbish to say the least! No power, no speed, no nothing!!! Its loaded with features thou... Probably the only reason it sells. And it doesnt seem to be to thirsty... But still... It leaves a sour taste in my mouth and I will definately not part with my money to buy one of these...

I'm now really amazed by the amount of these cars on our roads... It baffels me completely, maybe I just got use to or spoilt by the Diesels performance... :dunno:

The Autobox reminds me of the TATA runaround we owned a while back... Hit the kickdown button and it just rev's higher, speed hardly increases... NOT A NICE CAR!!!

I'm sure grandma would love one for town driving etc... but come on! This is a no fun vehicle IMHO...

Appologies again to the owners on this forum who own these... :bawling:

I know its nasty , but hey I totally agree with you, Ive owned a 320i Auto 2006, had it for 6 months. Extremely underpowered , Bmw S.A SHOULD have brought in the 320si with the 125kw motor.

Getting beaten by Golf 1.6i Life, wasnt much of a humiliation, but being beaten by a Funeral hearse , Ssang Yong Stavic , that was it for me, traded it and was prepared to fork out the balance to settle the bank.

I bought the 320i M Sport in my personal capacity and not as a company car. To be honest I was never a big BMW fan. Based on the cars available in it's price range at the time it was the better buy. Considering that it competes in terms of pricing with the Toyota Corolla, Audi 1.8T & 2.0, Merc C180, VW Golf 6 (1.6) and Jetta (1.6 & 2.0), Ford Focus 1.6 & 2.0. The design on all these cars are not sexy at all.

I have to admit though that I can not see myself driving a BMW without the Sport Pack.

In terms of speed, in lower gears...I agree it sucks, but that Jetta & Audi still has to move over though. Come onto the freeway from 4th gear onwards that car really surpises me. It's big brother the almighty 3.25i has a tough time, with both of us accelerating from 5th gear.

And most recently the Golf 6 GTI was added to that list. I really thought the guy was having me on and maybe just playing, but I could see the exhaust puffs during gear changes....he was pushing it.

It has everything I wanted from a family car, big boot that can fit the baby pram and month end shopping, safety, looks (sexy MSport Pack with 18'' wheels in blue water). Fuel efficiency was also a biggy, cause I do 100kms a day. The 320d would be much better on fuel, but I honestly think that it is over priced. I'd rather buy a Golf 6 GTI with that kind of money.

Had some fun with a E46 320D in a 1.6 Clubman MINI.

Kept with him but didnt pull on him... Very very nice cars.

Then again... The current 1.6 MINI makes 90kw and 160 torques.

Are you saying you beat a golf 6 GTI with your 320iMsport? LOL. The guy probably had a G6 1.6 with a gti badge. MSport only makes your car look faster, and has different suspension. It does not mean you have a different engine. Also, an Audi 1.8t will walk over a 320i in terms of performance.
